About the Role

This role involves overseeing engineering and facilities, ensuring the safety and security of the hotel, and protecting guests and associates during overnight hours. The position requires a proactive approach to problem-solving, maintaining all hotel systems and equipment, and acting as a first responder during emergencies.

Responsibilities

• Train and instruct other staff members by sharing knowledge and skills.
• Operate as an independent mechanic by analyzing problems, identifying courses of action, and implementing solutions.
• Keep accurate completion and task records in project files.
• Set an example of continuous self-development.
• Perform repairs on hardware, plumbing, and electrical equipment, including lamps, air conditioners, and cosmetic items.
• Clean, lubricate, protect, and maintain all tools and equipment.
• Ensure all tools are returned to the shop and secured in the proper storage area.
• Protect and maintain assigned tool pouch and its tools.
• Monitor systems to be fully informed of operation and handle emergencies.
• Maintain a working knowledge of fire sprinkler and emergency power systems.
• Analyze energy and utilities usage and identify opportunities for conservation.
• Act as a first responder during emergencies to protect guests, associates, and the building.
• Restore the building to normal operating status quickly and responsibly.
• Inform Engineering Management of any emergencies.
• Be aware of Job Safety Analysis and strive to work in an accident-free manner.
• Identify and correct hazardous conditions to ensure a safe work environment.
• Read, log, track, and interpret readings from meters, gauges, and other measuring units.
• Maintain a thorough log of daily activities and problems, ensuring information is passed to other shifts.
• Clean all engineering areas as directed.
• Conduct regular safety and security patrols of the building and property.
• Respond to guest and employee safety concerns during overnight hours.
• Liaise with emergency services when required.
• Enforce hotel safety protocols and policies overnight.
• Proactively resolve issues that could disrupt guest experience.
• Communicate calmly and professionally with guests during incidents.
• Maintain visibility as a reassuring presence overnight.
• Report to work on time and in full uniform.
• Work in a neat and efficient manner, keeping work areas clean and well-organized.
• Serve as otherwise directed to help maintain effective and efficient hotel operations.
• Complete all work assigned in a safe and professional manner.
• Maintain communications with supervisors regarding materials, tools, and supplies.
• Follow up on any items on back order.
• Keep supervisor updated on assignments.
• Provide training and technical advice to other engineers.
• Maintain a working knowledge of all federal, state, and local laws, codes, and regulations.
• Maintain a professional image.
• Maintain the hotel facility and related equipment in a safe and efficient manner.
• Provide for a safe work environment by following all safety and security procedures and rules.
• Perform other duties as assigned by Engineering Supervisor and/or Chief Engineer/Manager.
• Read, learn, understand, and refer to Standard Operating Procedures.
• Follow rules as found in the Marriott/Concord Hospitality Associate Handbook.

Requirements

• Background in engineering, maintenance, facilities, or security (combination preferred).
• Basic mechanical aptitude with ability to troubleshoot building systems.
• CPR/First Aid certification (or ability to obtain).
• Strong situational awareness and emergency response mindset.
• Ability to work independently and make sound decisions overnight.
• Clear written communication skills for logs and shift handoffs.
