About the Role

Penske Truck Leasing seeks a Hiker (Vehicle Transporter/Truck Driver) responsible for vehicle delivery and returns to Penske locations and customers. This casual/on-call part-time role is ideal for CDL Class B or A drivers seeking supplemental income, working 0-25 hours per week.

Responsibilities

Follow appropriate safety procedures while driving trucks to destination of Penske location or customer locations
Check vehicles to ensure mechanical, safety, and emergency equipment are in good working order, and report any issues to the location manager
Obtain receipts or signatures for delivered goods and collect payment for services when required
Report vehicle defects, accidents, traffic violations, or damage to the vehicles
Provide assistance to the service department to deliver parts and equipment
Perform other projects and tasks as assigned by supervisor

Requirements

2 years of driving experience required
2 years of a clean DMV motor vehicle record required
Valid Class B CDL required. Applicants must be domiciled in the U.S. and licensed in their state of residence
Ability to read and follow written instructions is required
Ability to work independently, customer service skills, organizational skills, and a positive attitude are required
English language proficiency is required
Regular, predictable, full attendance is an essential function of the job
Must maintain a current driver qualification file, including annual MVR check, DOT Physical, and Safety Performance History records
Must pass a DOT Drug Screening within 30 days of start and subject to a FMCSA Clearinghouse review
Willingness to travel as necessary, work the required schedule, and work at the specific location required
Must complete Penske employment application, background investigation, and drug screening
Ability to work in a constant state of alertness and in a safe manner is required
Ability to accept responsibility for their own safety, as well as the safety of others
Must be able to legally operate a motor vehicle and safely and frequently enter/exit the vehicle and its cargo area
Must be able to see and hear, with specific vision abilities including close vision, distance vision, peripheral vision, depth perception and the ability to adjust focus
Must be able to frequently move, stand, walk, and sit
Must be able to use hands to touch, handle, and feel, and to reach with hands and arms
Must be able to regularly lift and/or move up to 50lbs/23kg and occasionally lift and/or move up to 100lbs/45kg
