About the Role
The Shipping Team Lead is the main point of contact for all Distribution Center Shipping matters, reporting to the Distribution Center Manager and/or Assistant Manager. This role is responsible for maintaining all aspects of the Shipping function by completing assigned tasks. While primarily a mid to late Day shift, alternative scheduling or weekend work may be required.
Responsibilities
- Pick and Pack orders, ensuring proper packaging procedures and use of temperature-controlling materials.
- Process and ship all orders scheduled for the day, communicating any delays immediately.
- Utilize shipping software for manifesting small parcels (FedEx and UPS) and Less than Truckload (LTL) shipments.
- Utilize a Transportation Management System for scheduling LTL shipments and preparing Bills of Lading.
- Deliver “walk-in” orders to customers.
- Ensure availability and replenishment of packing supplies at shipping stations.
- Assign workload to packing and manifesting staff in the absence of management.
- Perform other duties as assigned by management.
- Assist with putting away products from miss-picks or cancellations.
- Perform lot code accuracy checks.
- Maintain a clean, safe, and hygienic environment in warehousing, dock areas, and perimeter.
- Perform sweeping, mopping, pallet removal, and trash pickup.
- Report facility infrastructure issues to management.
Requirements
- High school diploma
- 1-2 years of warehousing/receiving experience
- Ability to lift 50 lbs.
- Safe work ethic
Skills
- Knowledge of Dry Ice declaration for frozen shipments is a plus
- Forklift certification (preferred)
- Fast learner with the ability to multitask (preferred)
