About the Role

The Purchasing Manager oversees all procurement activities for manufacturing operations, ensuring the best value in materials, components, and services while meeting quality, delivery, and compliance standards. This role focuses on developing supplier relationships, negotiating contracts, managing inventory, and collaborating with various departments to achieve operational goals.

Responsibilities

  • Develop and execute purchasing strategies aligned with production schedules, inventory targets, and cost objectives.
  • Source, evaluate, and manage suppliers for raw materials, fabricated components, and services.
  • Negotiate pricing, terms, contracts, and long-term supply agreements to achieve cost savings and reliability.
  • Issue and manage purchase orders, ensuring accuracy, timeliness, and compliance with company policies.
  • Monitor supplier performance related to quality, delivery, and responsiveness; address corrective actions as needed.
  • Collaborate with engineering and manufacturing teams on new product introductions, material changes, and supplier selection.
  • Maintain appropriate inventory levels to support production while minimizing excess and obsolete stock.
  • Track market conditions, material availability, and pricing trends to support forecasting and risk mitigation.
  • Ensure procurement activities meet internal controls, audit requirements, and ethical sourcing standards.
  • Lead, mentor, and evaluate purchasing or procurement staff (if applicable).
  • Generate and analyze purchasing metrics, cost reports, and supplier data to support leadership decision-making.

Requirements

  • Ability to stand and/or walk for up to 8 hours per day.
  • Ability to work on a computer for up to 8 hours a day.
  • Ability to handle stress and fast paced environment.
