About the Role
Westwood Professional Services is seeking a Civil Graduate Engineer to join our Transportation team. This role involves supporting licensed engineers, learning company standards and local codes, and becoming proficient in design software, calculations, and project tasks. The position requires organization, self-motivation, and collaborative problem-solving skills to meet project deadlines and budgets.
Responsibilities
- Assist project team in design of public infrastructure work.
- Provide technical, day-to-day design support to the Project Engineer, including drafting support for plan production activities.
- Prepare engineering reports, feasibility studies, and utility evaluations.
- Prepare drawings and visual aids.
- Prepare various exhibits and design drawings using AutoCAD Civil3D, Bluebeam, MicroStation, Open Roads, HEC RAS, or other related engineering software.
- Follow internal QA/QC procedures, engineering standards, and best practices.
- Observe construction activities and work to develop an understanding of construction methods and the translation of engineering drawings and specifications into the constructed product.
- Work to learn the fundamentals of engineering processes and to apply them successfully to operating systems.
- Coordinate with agency staff and internal support teams on designs, analysis, and issues.
- Utilize Microsoft Office Suite to develop calculations in Excel, reports and letters in Word, and presentations in PowerPoint.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
Requirements
- Bachelor's degree in civil engineering, environmental engineering, or equivalent field of study, and/or the ability to obtain within 6-12 months.
- Engineer-in-Training Certificate, or the ability to obtain within 6-12 months.
