About the Role

Zip Security is seeking a Senior Accountant to establish and manage the company's financial foundation during its growth phase. This role involves overseeing daily accounting operations, including the general ledger, accounts payable/receivable, billing, and payroll, as well as monthly and quarterly closes. The position requires close collaboration with the fractional CFO and other departments on revenue accounting, commissions, financial reporting, internal controls, and strategic finance initiatives. It is ideal for an individual who is detail-oriented and enjoys both operational execution and process improvement, with opportunities to build scalable systems and controls.

Responsibilities

  • Own core accounting operations across the general ledger, accounts payable, accounts receivable, billing, collections, payroll, and monthly and quarterly close.
  • Maintain accurate and timely financial reporting, partnering with our fractional CFO to prepare information for leadership, Board, and investor reporting.
  • Own revenue accounting and billing operations, including recurring and one-time revenue treatment, customer invoicing and portals, collections, and revenue reporting across direct and partner/channel sales.
  • Partner cross-functionally on financial operations, including working with Sales Operations on commission calculations and payouts and supporting analysis of cost of sales and gross margin.
  • Manage key finance systems and processes, including Ramp, expense reimbursement, travel and expense policies, Rippling payroll, banking workflows, and other financial tooling.
  • Strengthen our financial infrastructure by developing scalable processes and internal controls that protect company assets and maintain the accuracy of our financial records.
  • Support tax, audit, and compliance activities, working with external tax providers and auditors as needed to meet federal, state, and local requirements.
  • Support broader company finance and operations initiatives including banking and treasury activities, venture debt administration, contract management, Carta, insurance, and Board preparation.

Requirements

  • Strong accounting foundation with experience owning or meaningfully contributing to monthly close, general ledger, AP/AR, billing, and financial reporting.
  • Experience operating across multiple areas of accounting rather than working exclusively within one narrow function.
  • Comfortable working hands-on and independently in a fast-moving, high-growth environment where processes are still being built.
  • Strong attention to detail and the ability to maintain accurate financial records while managing multiple priorities.
  • Experience working cross-functionally with teams such as Sales, People, Operations, and company leadership.
  • Ability to identify operational gaps and build practical, scalable accounting processes and internal controls.
  • Clear communicator who can translate accounting and financial information for non-finance stakeholders.

About the Company

  • Cybersecurity for growing businesses is broken — even enterprises spend heavily across hundreds of disconnected tools for marginal real-world benefit. For startups and mid-sized firms, this gap often means forgoing security entirely, or cobbling together a solution that leaves them vulnerable in other ways. At Zip Security, we build solutions that make enterprise cybersecurity effective and doable for growing businesses of all kinds, whether or not they have a security team in house.
  • Our product is a complete security program that automates device management, endpoint security, identity and access management, compliance, and managed IT and security operations to keep teams of all kinds protected. We help our customers pick the right security frameworks, correctly deploy the tools, policies, and controls they need, and keep everything enforced over time, so their business is protected and compliant, 24/7.
  • Zip is at the cutting edge of what’s possible in cybersecurity and dedicated to delivering value for our customers. It’s a big part of why we’re backed by Ballistic Ventures. Major platforms are opening APIs that enable automated management at scale, new government initiatives are surfacing global threat data, and we're positioned to be the first to properly integrate all of it. We're looking for driven, talented people to help us get there. If this resonates with you, we invite you to consider building alongside our team.
