About the Role
Our team is comprised of electrical engineers who specify, design, develop, integrate, and test electronic instrumentation and control (I&C) systems for VIRGINIA, COLUMBIA, and future classes. Responsibilities
- Performs systems engineering and integration with a focus on the electrical engineering discipline.
- Participates in the development, integration, and maintenance of shipboard equipment for a variety of electrical I&C systems.
- Leverages model-based systems engineering (MBSE) tools.
- Generates system and hardware specifications based on concepts.
- Supports teams who design and develop system hardware and software.
- Supports integration and test of hardware and software.
- Practices electrical and systems engineering, working closely with interfacing system teams, hardware procurement teams, software development teams, and the customer.
- Conducts research, project management, and risk management.
- Develops written deliverables and prepares presentations.
- Participates in customer program reviews.
- Develops and maintains cost and schedule estimates.
- Reviews technical deliverables from various internal and external organizations.
- Elicits, manages, and validates equipment and interface requirements via extensive collaboration.
- Develops system architecture concepts, including evaluation of competing alternatives.
- Develops and maintains system models in an MBSE environment.
- Maintains a prototypical hardware and software development lab.
- Develops vendor statements of work, evaluates vendor estimates, reviews vendor technical deliverables, and provides vendor support.
- Writes technical manuals and procedures for operating and maintaining equipment.
- Supports system operational testing, including procedure development, test execution, and evaluation of results.
- Provides remote and/or on-site support and troubleshooting for ship construction and test activities.
Requirements
- Bachelor of Science degree or higher in Electrical Engineering or Systems Engineering with a focus on Electrical
- 0-5 years of post-graduate engineering experience
- Experience in developing or maintaining industrial I&C systems
- Experience defining and meeting functional and detail requirements
- Experience planning and executing team projects
- US Navy submarine service
- Active DoD SECRET clearance
