About the Role

Blue Rose Research is seeking a product-focused engineer to help build a new generation of AI-powered products, including conversational interfaces, autonomous research agents, and tools that transform data into actionable information. The role involves understanding user goals and political research strategies to create product ideas, UX designs, and production code, suitable for a builder-designer comfortable with both Figma and codebases. The ultimate objective is to contribute to Democratic electoral success.

Responsibilities

Design and build end-to-end features for products where an agent and humans are working together.
Build products that present AI-generated output, uncertainty, and citations in a trustworthy manner.
Work closely with political researchers, data scientists, and other engineers to turn ambiguous problems into simple, usable software.
Use AI tools and coding agents to move fast, prioritizing slick interfaces when necessary.
Talk to users and internal stakeholders to identify and fix issues with existing tools.
Build systems that encode a deep understanding of user goals and thought processes within political strategy.

Requirements

6+ years of experience as a product engineer, full-stack engineer, or designer-engineer hybrid.
Portfolio of shipped products.
Strong product and UX instincts, with the ability to critique flows and sketch alternatives.
Comfort using coding agents for rapid, quality-focused development.
Hands-on experience building products on top of LLMs (chat interfaces, agents, retrieval-augmented tools).
Understanding of how to use human annotations efficiently to encode expertise into AI systems.
Eye for visual and interaction design.
Familiarity with tools like Figma is a plus.
Energized by ambiguous problems.
Motivated by Blue Rose Research’s mission and interested in learning the progressive political ecosystem.
Prior political or civic-tech experience is welcome but not required.
Candidates must be authorized to work lawfully in the United States.
