About the Role
The Bestow Analytics team works across the company to create data solutions for external partners and internal stakeholders. This role spans engineering and insights to improve automation and decision-making, using cloud technology to provide curated data products and BI solutions.
Responsibilities
- Automate data transformation pipelines using SQL, dbt, CI/CD, Github, and Google Cloud.
- Create data products using visualization tools like Tableau for partner business understanding.
- Contribute during meetings, asking clarifying questions to understand business requirements.
- Develop subject matter expertise in the insurance domain to anticipate partner needs.
- Recommend and adopt data governance best practices to improve data quality and controls.
- Construct data validation checks and automated unit tests.
- Collaborate with other data analysts and engineers, sharing work and cross-training.
- Ensure data quality through automated monitoring and alerting, including on-call rotation.
- Maintain a positive attitude and encourage team member growth.
- Participate in team decision-making, proposing ideas and reviewing others' work.
Requirements
- 5+ years of strong SQL skills (e.g., BigQuery) for complex querying.
- Demonstrated passion for solving problems with data and delivering positive results.
- Strong understanding of data transformation and quality engineering (e.g., dbt and Airflow).
- Strong understanding of general software development lifecycle (SDLC, Agile development, CI/CD, Github).
- Strong understanding of data organization, data modeling, and schema design.
- Proven track record of writing efficient queries and reducing compute costs.
- Ability to communicate data findings through compelling summaries and clear data visualizations.
- Demonstrated experience with AI Coding assistants within IDEs or agentic CLIs.
- Experience creating clear documentation of designs and code changes using Github, Lucid, Jira, or Confluence.
