About the Role
The Granite Club is seeking a part-time Caregiver to provide excellent care and ensure a safe, stimulating play environment for children, fostering healthy development.
Responsibilities
- Teach children songs, games, social skills, and crafts, and lead story time, creating a fun and engaging atmosphere.
- Develop and implement age-appropriate program plans for activities and circle experiences, covering social-emotional, sensory, science, cognitive, and gross and fine motor development.
- Provide excellent care for children, ensuring a safe play area for those 6 weeks and older.
- Attend to children's personal needs, including washroom and diaper changes, and maintain written records of activities like sleep, feeding, and diaper changes.
- Communicate children's needs to other caregivers and discuss special requests with members regarding their child(ren).
- Provide snacks and refreshments to children, and bottles to babies as needed.
- Plan and prepare crafts.
- Remove and report any damaged or unsafe toys, games, and equipment to the Childcare Supervisor.
- Ensure a clean and sanitary environment at all times.
- Handle general inquiries, reservations, section registration, and program registration.
- Maintain ongoing communication in the daily logbook by recording all incidents, needs, member concerns, and suggestions.
- Prepare the monthly Birthday Celebration Wall for section members.
- Participate in all staff meetings.
- Decorate rooms for special events and occasions.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
Requirements
- Minimum of grade 12 education.
- First Aid and C.P.R. certification required.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills in English.
- Flexible to work variable shifts, including evenings, weekends, and holidays.
- Must perform a criminal background check and a vulnerable sector search demonstrating a satisfactory criminal record prior to employment.
