About the Role

Global News Technology is seeking a full-time Broadcast Technician based in Toronto. This role supports reliable broadcast operations in a 24/7 environment, requiring shift work and on-call support. The successful candidate will bring strong technical expertise and a collaborative approach.

Responsibilities

Install, troubleshoot, and maintain broadcast systems, facilities, and equipment.
Perform maintenance on broadcast and related technical equipment.
Support business, broadcast IT, and network-connected systems.
Implement and document temporary and permanent installations.
Ensure assigned projects are completed with high standards of quality, accuracy, and timeliness.
Work closely with News Operations and production teams.
Collaborate with vendors and suppliers on equipment servicing, recommendations, and purchasing support.
Maintain technical drawings and system documentation.
Support remote broadcasts, mobile equipment, and field production requirements.
Work rotating shifts and provide after-hours support.
Represent Corus in a professional and courteous manner.

Requirements

Post-secondary education in Broadcast Technology, Electronics, Computer Technology, Engineering, or a related field, or an equivalent combination of education and relevant experience.
Demonstrated ability to troubleshoot broadcast electronic systems in a fast-paced operational environment.
Strong understanding of digital video and audio signals and their integration within broadcast systems.
Working knowledge of server-based and file-based workflow technology, including computer hardware and workstation support.
Ability to interpret and maintain technical system documentation and CAD or Visio-based drawings.
Proficiency with Microsoft 365 applications, including Outlook, Word, Excel, and Visio.
Strong written and verbal communication skills.
Excellent interpersonal skills and the ability to work independently and as part of a team.
Ability to adapt to rapidly changing technology, workflows, and integrated systems.
Ability to perform occasional physical work, including lifting equipment and using ladders.
