About the Role

This role will lead and support the IASB’s financial instruments-related projects, including the upcoming post-implementation review of IFRS 17. Responsibilities include conducting research and analysis on technical accounting issues, engaging with stakeholders, and drafting due process documents.

Responsibilities

  • Contribute to and oversee the development of technical proposals for IASB consideration.
  • Facilitate IASB decision-making through research, consultation, and drafting of papers.
  • Provide strategic direction to projects and manage political issues and risks.
  • Consider implications of the ISSB's work.
  • Prepare and review various internal and external documents and communications.
  • Act as a representative of the IASB by consulting with external stakeholders.
  • Provide general project support to senior staff and the IASB.
  • Contribute to the development and coaching of other staff.
  • Manage relevant committees and working groups.
  • Manage technical project administrative matters.

Requirements

  • Qualified accountant with strong technical and practical experience in applying IFRS Accounting Standards to complex financial instruments and/or insurance contracts.
  • Proven track record of applying IFRS 9, IAS 32, and/or IFRS 17 to determine accounting for complex transactions or instruments in the financial services industry.

  • In-depth knowledge of IFRS Accounting Standards related to financial instruments and the Conceptual Framework.

  • Ability to draft and review Board papers and due process documents with robust analyses of alternative views, persuading based on evidence and balanced analysis.
