About the Role
We are looking for a Staff Designer to tackle the most significant, ambiguous, and undefined challenges at Otter. This role involves identifying critical problems, justifying their importance, and leading them from conception to a fully realized product.
Responsibilities
- Identify critical P0 problems that others may have overlooked and articulate their significance.
- Translate vague, company-level directives into actionable plans and mobilize resources for execution.
- Lead initiatives that span multiple teams, extending beyond individual roadmaps or pods.
- Elevate the overall user experience and brand identity of Otter, ensuring a cohesive and refined aesthetic.
- Infuse energy and craftsmanship into work that may be subtle but is essential for a polished final product.
- Mentor and inspire fellow designers through work practices, without direct supervisory responsibilities.
Requirements
- Demonstrated ability to identify and address the most impactful problems, rather than just those assigned.
- Proven experience in shipping projects that originated from ambiguous concepts with no clear brief or owner.
- A keen eye for brand aesthetics and design craft, with the ability to refine elements to their optimal state.
- Strong storytelling skills to effectively communicate and gain buy-in for future directions.
- Experience in enterprise or B2B environments is highly advantageous, with added benefit for prior consumer-facing experience within the same business domain.
