About the Role
We’re looking for a Staff Product Designer to join our Foundations team, responsible for systems, patterns, and surfaces that enable consistent, high-quality experiences. You’ll lead the evolution of Jobber’s design system across multiple platforms and establish new approaches for AI design and development integration. This role involves leading major projects to elevate design standards, improve consistency, and increase team velocity by working at the intersection of design, engineering, and systems thinking.
Responsibilities
- Lead design system initiatives to create scalable systems of components and product-level interaction patterns.
- Act as the steward of Jobber’s brand and experience principles, promoting high-quality visual and interaction design.
- Identify system gaps and drive solutions to improve consistency, usability, and UX quality at scale.
- Define and evolve governance models, contribution processes, and best practices for the design system.
- Partner with Engineering leaders to enhance implementation quality and integrate system best practices into AI-driven design and development workflows.
- Collaborate with designers and embed in product teams to support system adoption and inform system iteration.
- Steer UX quality initiatives and roadmap planning to improve visual design, interaction design, accessibility, usability, and performance.
- Mentor team members to foster a culture of collaboration, feedback, and continuous improvement.
Requirements
- A portfolio demonstrating design craft, systems thinking, and measurable impact on product quality or team efficiency.
- 5-10 years of experience designing and evolving design systems, including major initiatives like system redesigns or new product creation.
- A track record of leading complex projects that improved design consistency and quality across an organization.
- Deep expertise in interaction design, UI patterns, and visual design.
- Deep understanding of accessibility standards across platforms.
- Expertise in collaborating with engineers and understanding design-to-code translation.
- Strong technical literacy with front-end technologies (HTML, CSS, and frameworks like React).
- Strong expertise with Figma (components, tokens, auto-layout, prototyping).
- Strong opinions on the evolving AI design landscape, including design, prototyping, pattern sharing, and documentation.
- Proven ability to make effective decisions that scale across organizations, balancing flexibility with standardization.
- Proven ability to work cross-functionally, build alignment with senior leaders, and inform strategy.
