About the Role
MatPel Builders is seeking a skilled Construction Superintendent to join their South Bay team. This role involves leading field crews, collaborating with project managers, and ensuring project success for high-end residential and light commercial projects in the San Francisco Bay Area.
Responsibilities
- Supervise and mentor field crews
- Collaborate with Project Managers to execute work efficiently and profitably
- Coordinate jobsite layout, excavation depths, and elevations
- Partner with architects, designers, and engineers to resolve field challenges
- Manage labor needs and communicate with HR and Senior Superintendents
- Maintain schedules, generate material lists, and track deliveries
- Lead daily reporting in Procore, including photo documentation
- Monitor project costs, budgets, and productivity
- Review plans and provide clear direction to subcontractors
- Enforce site safety and cleanliness standards at all times
- Perform carpentry tasks as needed, including finish work
- Ensure timely punch-list completion and client satisfaction
Requirements
- 7+ years of superintendent experience in high-end residential construction
- Strong background in carpentry
- Proven ability to lead teams and manage subcontractors
- Excellent communication and time management skills
- Detail-oriented, proactive, and adaptable
- Comfortable reading plans, managing budgets, and working with numbers
- Valid driver's license and reliable vehicle (truck or van preferred)
- Ability to work independently in a fast-paced environment
- Must be able to wear appropriate PPE and meet physical demands of the job
