About the Role
The San Francisco Chronicle is seeking a talented and energetic photojournalist for its summer 2027 Visuals internship program. This internship offers the opportunity to cover a variety of news, features, sports assignments, and visual essays, contributing to the award-winning journalism of the largest newspaper in Northern California.
Responsibilities
- Cover a variety of news, features, sports assignments, and visual essays.
- Make photographs and capture video for daily stories.
- Perform initial photo editing.
- Write accurate, concise, and typo-free captions.
- Conduct some reporting.
- Transmit photos and videos remotely.
- Collaborate closely with editors and reporters in the field.
Requirements
- Must be a junior, senior, or recent graduate.
- Prior experience at a college news publication or professional news organization is required.
- A strong online portfolio featuring still photography and video is necessary.
- Possess keen attention to detail, strong news and ethical judgment.
- Ability to work effectively under deadline pressure.
- Must have a current driver's license and car, or be willing to use ride-shares or public transportation.
- Demonstrate an interest in and enthusiasm for local & community storytelling.
