About the Role
The San Francisco Chronicle is seeking to create a pipeline for the next generation of arts journalists. This role will be based with Datebook, our guide to arts, entertainment, and culture in the Bay Area, covering film, music, theater, and more. Responsibilities include brainstorming, researching, writing, art directing collaborators, and project coordination.
Responsibilities
- Report on breaking news and trending topics as it relates to the Bay Area arts community.
- Report and write news features and reviews for the Chronicle that reflect the diversity of the arts and audiences in the Bay Area.
- Cover live events across the Bay Area, including nights and weekends, as needed.
- Collaborate closely with editors to conceptualize coverage, sharpen writing, and build reporting instincts in a fast-paced newsroom.
- Contribute to coverage that may also include opportunities to work with video, audio, and/or other multimedia storytelling formats.
Requirements
- Must be able to work out of the San Francisco and greater Bay Area.
- Weekend, evening, and holiday work will be required as events warrant.
- 40 hours a week for 12 weeks.
- This paid internship typically goes from June to August, though a later start and/or end date may be negotiated.
