About the Role
The Engineer is responsible for the safe, reliable, and efficient operation of building systems by performing maintenance, fixing equipment, and responding to service needs. This role helps ensure building systems operate effectively, supports ongoing facility operations, and maintains a safe and well-functioning work environment.
Responsibilities
- Schedule preventative maintenance with minimal disruption of building services.
- Perform preventative maintenance tasks, order parts and equipment required for repair/maintenance, and install new equipment.
- Maintain inventory of parts and equipment.
- Demonstrate proper use and care of tools and instruments, safety, and troubleshooting procedures.
- Attend relevant engineering courses.
- Follow departmental policy for the safe storage, usage, and disposal of hazardous materials.
- Maintain a clean and safe workplace.
- Ensure the availability of an adequate operating inventory of tools and supplies.
- Prepare and submit purchase order requests.
- Develop sources for stock materials and perform periodic checks for supplies.
- Perform the maintenance and operation of mechanical (Chillers, cooling tower and CRAC units), electrical, and power generation equipment and systems.
- Manage all building controls and electrical systems using on-the-job training, operations manuals, and documentation.
- Perform predictive, planned, preventative, and routine maintenance, equipment rounds, and service requests.
- Perform maintenance in accordance with the JLL Preventative Maintenance Program.
- Assist with the development and improvement of preventative maintenance programs, schedules, work instructions, SOPs, and operational procedures.
- Inspect and repair pumps, fans, valves, and motors.
- Identify and remediate safety hazards within the building.
- Participate in and train staff in the safety training program.
- Ensure compliance with all regulatory laws and guidelines related to building infrastructure.
- Alert management of building discrepancies.
- Adhere to all applicable State and Local building codes.
Requirements
- 7+ years of facility-related work experience, including customer service and leadership experience.
- Must possess and maintain a valid state driver’s license.
- Solid understanding of computer applications, including Microsoft Office and CMMS systems.
- Demonstrated verbal and written communication skills.
- Ability to lift a minimum of 50 lbs.
- Ability to use ladders up to 30 ft.
- Ability to work at heights of 110 ft.
- This position is considered essential personnel and requires reporting to work during inclement weather.
Skills
- Johnson Control Metasys BMS System experience
- HVAC, fluid handling/pumping, fluid filtering, mechanical systems, and electrical systems operation
- Boilers, chillers, water source heat pumps, cooling towers, and split systems
- Mechanical proficiency
- Electrical proficiency
- Universal Technician for CFC’s certification
- DC 3rd Class Steam Engineers License (preferred)
