About the Role
Kaizen is seeking its first contracts hire to build and own the compliance function for its federal agreements. This role is crucial for managing FAR-based contracts, subcontracts, and various government agreements, ensuring adherence to deadlines, labor postings, OCI requirements, and VETS filings. The position reports to the Head of Business Operations & Corporate Affairs and collaborates closely with IT, security, the FSO, and the deployment team.
Responsibilities
- Build and own the obligation register across every federal agreement, keeping it current through mods and change orders.
- Run the compliance calendar, including training certificates, required notices and postings, and annual filings.
- Make applicability calls on thresholds, commercial-item carve-outs, and other compliance requirements.
- Administer federal portals such as SAM, PIEE, and WAWF for invoicing.
- Review flowdowns on new subcontracts and agreements, identifying potential risks.
- Onboard new subcontractors, ensuring adherence to scope, timelines, and deliverables.
- Route execution tasks to relevant departments like People Ops, IT, and security.
- Serve as the primary interface with government COs and AOs on active contracts.
- Support BD and capture teams with contract strategy, pricing input, and risk assessment on proposals.
- Manage clause interpretation with outside counsel.
Requirements
- 5+ years of federal contracts or subcontracts administration experience on the contractor side.
- Fluency in FAR and DFARS, including flowdown matrices and applicability thresholds.
- Experience building a compliance register or calendar.
- DoD contract experience, including FAR-based awards or other transaction agreements.
- Experience with GSA Schedule administration, including catalog maintenance, pricing justifications, BPA setup, and option year reporting.
- Direct submissions into federal systems such as SAM, PIEE, or WAWF.
- Ability to work independently on a small team and assign tasks effectively.
- Experience managing subcontractors or teaming partners against committed scope and deliverables.
- Negotiation experience on federal contracts.
- Familiarity with data rights and IP provisions in federal software contracts.
- Eligibility to work with CUI.
