About the Role
As the Equipment Operator, you will be responsible for coordinating and managing the flow of construction materials and modular units across the production plant and yard, ensuring efficiency and safety objectives are met.
Responsibilities
- Plan and execute movement of modular units weighing from 2,000 lbs. to 100,000 lbs.
- Locate materials and supplies by pulling and verifying materials and supplies listed on production orders.
- Maintain accurate and complete records as required by management.
- Move and deliver materials requested by fabrication and production.
- Load and unload incoming and outgoing materials and products.
- Move materials to and from loading docks, delivery trucks, storage areas, and manufacturing areas.
- Prepare goods for off-site shipment by identifying their location, then pulling, packing, and loading them.
- Operate forklifts, cranes, and other equipment to move materials.
- Maintain a clean and orderly working area.
- Maintain a safe work environment by observing and following standards and procedures, complying with regulations and codes.
- Ensure all business activities are performed with the highest ethical standards and in compliance with the Fero Code of Business Conduct.
- Perform other related duties as assigned to meet the ongoing needs of the organization.
Requirements
- High school diploma or equivalent.
- Certified Forklift Operator with a minimum 1-year crane experience.
- Basic reading and math skills for data entry.
- Computer skills with a working knowledge of Microsoft Office programs.
- Ability to work overtime and/or weekends if required.
- Must stand for long periods, with frequent lifting up to 50lbs.
- Able to work in all weather conditions including outdoors.
- Ability to perform bending, crouching, kneeling, lifting, working in tight spaces, and ladder use.
- Willingness to wear PPE such as safety boots, safety vest, safety glasses, and gloves.
- Good communication skills: ability to ask questions and interact with others.
- Critical thinking skills: ability to problem-solve, follow direction, and work independently or with a team.
- Curiosity: willingness to learn.
- Resilience: quick to look for ways to solve or improve a situation, adaptable to various workflows.
