About the Role
This role brings together investment analysis, insurance knowledge, and stakeholder leadership to assess new asset classes, sourcing opportunities, strategic partnerships, and optimize the backbook. You will translate complex investment ideas into well-supported decisions, utilizing regulatory developments and combining technical credibility with clear communication.
Responsibilities
- Support strategically important investment and business development initiatives.
- Develop new asset classes and alternative asset-sourcing channels.
- Originate and evaluate investment opportunities beyond established sourcing routes.
- Lead detailed due diligence across asset modelling, risk-return, capital, matching adjustment, P&L, ALM, and hedging considerations.
- Assess how potential investments fit within the wider portfolio.
- Establish and manage effective relationships with external asset managers.
- Collaborate with Portfolio Management, ALM, Capital, Risk, and wider business stakeholders.
- Manage the effective handover of completed projects to operational teams.
Requirements
- Strong knowledge of the UK insurance sector and its investment considerations.
- Good understanding and ideally experience of utilizing the latest regulatory developments (Highly Predictable (HP) assets, MA Investment Accelerator).
- A broad understanding of fixed income investments across different asset classes.
- Experience originating and evaluating investments for UK insurers.
- Strong analytical judgement and the ability to evaluate complex opportunities.
- Experience working across functions and managing senior stakeholders.
- Clear written and verbal communication skills, including explaining technical subjects to varied audiences.
- Effective project management skills and evidence of delivering through others.
- A numerate, actuarial or investment qualification, or equivalent relevant experience, would be advantageous.
