About the Role
Premier Truck Group is seeking a Shop Helper to join their team, focusing on delivering the best employee experience, operational excellence, and exceptional customer service. This role is crucial for supporting service technicians and ensuring the smooth operation of the service department.
Responsibilities
- Stocks, places orders, and verifies receipt of parts and supplies for service technicians.
- Assists service technicians and other service drive employees by bringing appropriate supplies and equipment to the workspace and putting them away after use.
- Performs basic vehicle maintenance services including tire rotation, replacement, mounting, and balancing, fluid and coolant adjustments, oil and filter changes, and brake adjustments.
- Cleans work areas, empties trash, collects scrap and used materials, and processes them according to company policy and regulations.
- Moves vehicles between dealership areas.
- Cleans vehicles prior to customer delivery.
- Performs additional vehicle repair-related duties as assigned by senior technicians or supervisors.
- Documents all work performed.
- Maintains and wears all required safety and health personal protective equipment, including respirators, as recommended by the manufacturer and company policies.
- Complies with all laws and regulations pertaining to working with hazardous materials and reports deviations to management immediately.
- Communicates with supervisors if additional work is needed.
- Complies with all laws and regulations pertaining to paint, thinners, and other hazardous materials and reports deviations to management immediately.
- Understands automotive terminology and stays updated on product technology changes.
- Follows all attendance and punctuality standards, including timekeeping standards.
- Follows the Company Code of Business Ethics and Conduct.
- Understands and follows all work rules, procedures, and lawful directions from supervisors.
- Upholds company non-disclosure and confidentiality policies and agreements.
- Maintains a professional appearance in accordance with company policy.
- Attends pertinent training and company meetings as required.
Requirements
- High school diploma or equivalent, or a combination of education and experience.
- Ability to wear all required safety and health personal protective equipment, including respirators, as recommended by the manufacturer.
- Ability to take direction from multiple employees and prioritize work.
- Good communication skills, including the ability to listen to customers and determine how to assist them.
- Ability to work well in a team environment.
- Knowledge of automotive systems, tools, and repair processes.
- Outstanding attention to detail with a commitment to quality.
- Ability to use technical reference materials and manuals in written and online formats.
- Ability to communicate technical terms to a non-technical audience.
- Ability to follow processes to ensure quality and safety.
- Effective time management skills and ability to prioritize.
