About the Role
The Museum of Modern Art is seeking Security Officers to interact positively with visitors, provide information about the museum's collection, programs, and events, and ensure the safety of the collection.
Responsibilities
- Communicate Museum policies regarding collection safety and ensure adherence to protocols.
- Conduct opening and closing procedures, including inspections of galleries and surrounding areas.
- Perform patrols of assigned areas and report safety concerns to supervisors.
- Complete daily logs and security reports.
- Respond to emergency incidents.
- Perform exterior facility patrols and escort contractors/vendors.
Requirements
- High school diploma or equivalent required.
- New York State Guard certificate required.
- Minimum of one-year security or customer service experience.
- Prior museum/art-related experience is a plus.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
- Strong organizational and planning skills.
- Ability to provide excellent customer service and maintain professional demeanor.
- Detail-oriented with the ability to work under minimal supervision.
- Ability to walk/stand for extended periods.
- Ability to climb stairs and stoop/kneel.
- Ability to work weekends.
- Must successfully complete a security threat assessment through the Department of Homeland Security.
- Must become a member of Local 32BJ.
