About the Role
The US Oncology Network is seeking a Patient Services Representative for Texas Oncology at the Austin Midtown location. This role supports a collaborative, patient-centered environment and is crucial for efficient patient scheduling and support.
Responsibilities
- Schedule new patients, referrals, and returning patients efficiently.
- Cancel and reschedule appointments as needed, notifying relevant personnel.
- Meet with patients to schedule future appointments, procedures, or exams.
- Triage and respond to incoming scheduling calls accurately and promptly.
- Accurately schedule appointments in a fast-paced environment.
- Obtain and attach necessary authorizations and referrals to appointments.
- Maintain the primary office scheduling template.
- Arrange financial counseling for patients.
- Protect patient confidentiality.
- Follow policies and procedures to enhance front office efficiency.
- Cover other front office functions as requested.
- Prepare correspondence, memos, and forms.
- Schedule outpatient appointments, testing, surgeries, and hospital admissions.
- Obtain necessary pre-certification.
- Communicate surgery/test details and required prep work to patients.
- Gather patient information as needed.
- Utilize basic medical terminology for procedures and scheduling.
- Understand and apply medical coding for diagnoses, surgeries, and scheduling.
Requirements
- High School Diploma or equivalent required.
- 0-3 years of medical business office experience (Level 1).
- Minimum 3-5 years of medical business office experience (Level 2).
- Minimum five years of medical business office experience (Level Sr).
- Regularly required to sit and use hands.
- Occasionally required to stand, walk, and reach.
- Occasionally lift and/or move up to 30 pounds.
- Vision and hearing corrected to normal ranges.
- Requires frequent interaction with patients and staff.
