About the Role
The Information Disclosure Team, within the FCA's Communications department, manages UK GDPR Rights Requests, Freedom of Information Act (FOIA) requests, and other transparency initiatives. This role is crucial for meeting statutory obligations, supporting transparency, and ensuring compliance with information rights legislation, thereby managing legal, regulatory, and reputational risk.
Responsibilities
- Handle Subject Access Requests and other information rights requests in line with UK GDPR, Data Protection Act 2018, and FCA policies.
- Manage a caseload effectively and meet statutory deadlines.
- Review, assess, and prepare information for disclosure, applying appropriate exemptions and performing necessary redactions.
- Liaise with FCA business areas to obtain information, provide guidance, and ensure timely and accurate responses.
- Draft clear written responses to requesters and stakeholders, explaining complex information accessibly.
- Stay updated on data protection law developments, ICO guidance, and best practices, sharing knowledge and delivering training.
- Support evolving team priorities, including FOI requests and executive correspondence, with a collaborative approach.
Requirements
- Experience handling Data Protection Rights requests, including Data Subject Access Requests, under UK GDPR and Data Protection Act 2018.
- Experience applying legislation, ICO guidance, and organizational policies to make sound decisions.
- Effective written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to explain complex issues clearly to diverse audiences.
- Demonstrated ability to handle multiple competing tasks and consistently meet deadlines.
- Demonstrated ability to manage a high-volume caseload, consistently meeting statutory and internal deadlines.
- Experience reviewing large volumes of information and preparing accurate disclosures, including using redaction software.
- Thorough attention to detail and sound judgment when reviewing information, applying exemptions, and drafting responses.
- Demonstrated stakeholder management skills, with experience providing advice and collaborating across teams and with senior stakeholders.
- Demonstrated ability to work with minimal supervision while contributing positively to a collaborative environment.
- SC Clearance is required; must hold or be willing to obtain Security Check (SC) level vetting.

- National (Edinburgh and Leeds) ranging from £39,100 to £48,800
- London from £41,600 to £51,900
