About the Role

We are seeking a business-minded Commercial Legal Counsel with approximately 5 years of experience in drafting and negotiating customer agreements. This role will be a key partner to Fivetran departments and stakeholders across the EMEA region, acting as a high-impact individual contributor with strong legal expertise and business judgment. The candidate must operate independently on commercial matters while collaborating with senior legal team members.

Responsibilities

  • Review, revise, and negotiate commercial contracts with customers and prospects, including customer paper agreements, for the EMEA region.
  • Serve as a designated legal contact for Fivetran’s EMEA enterprise sales team, providing education, training, and communications regarding customer agreements.
  • Act as a primary legal contact, offering strategic guidance on contracting, enablement, and process improvement initiatives.
  • Assist in maintaining and updating commercial legal team playbooks to ensure alignment with internal stakeholders.
  • Support key template documents, including revisions and operationalization into the contracts management and automation tool.
  • Liaise with the product team to understand the impact of product updates on customer agreements.
  • Contribute to the development and implementation of best practices for commercial contract lifecycle management.
  • Stay informed about evolving legal trends and industry best practices in SaaS and data privacy, including EU/UK requirements.
  • Complete special projects based on interest areas and company/team needs.

Requirements

  • Approximately 5 years of experience in negotiating commercial contracts at high-growth technology companies, with an interest in data and privacy.
  • Solid understanding of global commercial transactions, including drafting, reviewing, and finalizing agreements such as sales agreements, SaaS and enterprise B2B transactions, and data processing agreements (compliance with GDPR and other data protection laws), including on customer paper.
  • Interest in building and optimizing processes and procedures in partnership with legal operations.
  • Proven track record of high-volume, quick execution of agreements that mitigate risk and support revenue growth, including customer paper review.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to articulate complex legal concepts to technical and non-technical audiences.
  • High attention to detail and demonstrated self-initiative.
  • Qualified solicitor/lawyer (or equivalent) admitted to practice in Ireland, England & Wales, or another European jurisdiction.
  • Professional fluency in both English and French, including the ability to independently review, draft, and negotiate commercial agreements in both languages.
