About the Role

This role is part of the Operations Team, focused on building relationships with direct reports, removing barriers to success, and coaching employees towards company goals. The position involves creating and reinforcing workplace expectations, providing continuous performance improvement coaching in safety, quality, productivity, and efficiency using Behavioral Management Techniques (BMT). Key responsibilities include ensuring schedules are followed, assisting with operations, assigning manpower, promoting safety, and aiding in training.

Responsibilities

  • Supervise Cast Shop production staff, including disciplinary issues and scheduling.
  • Complete Leader Standard Work Sheets Daily (LSW).
  • Collaborate with maintenance supervisor and planner on Cast Shop repairs.
  • Order tools and parts as needed.
  • Observe performance and hold daily conversations with employees on safety, quality, and productivity.
  • Conduct mill walk-arounds (Milk Runs), observations, and monitoring.
  • Be present and visible to production operators, listening to and following up on employee input regarding barriers.
  • Provide regular feedback on work performance using safety, quality, and attendance data.
  • Take ownership of workplace issues and challenges for direct reports.
  • Ensure effective shift-to-shift communications regarding safety, equipment status, staffing, and end-of-shift reports.
  • Uphold the Collective Bargaining Agreement and workplace policies.
  • Consult HR on issues as needed.
  • Perform hands-on tasks to improve process safety and quality.
  • Assist crew members with troubleshooting machine issues and providing resources.
  • Resolve issues with absences and vacations.
  • Communicate with other departmental supervisors, employees, and vendor representatives.
  • Take leadership actions to create a safe workplace culture through engagement in safety meetings, action plans, and report follow-up.
  • Collect safety data, including observations, tallies, surveys, and injury reports.
  • Follow up on corrective actions for safety incidents.
  • Apply Revere’s process control procedures, including deviation procedures.
  • Train and coach employees on documented work methods.
  • Conduct job instruction breakdown (JIB) observations to reinforce work methods and provide feedback.
  • Follow Reliability and Maintenance roles and responsibilities, including work requests and follow-up.
  • Reinforce Operator Basic Care principles.

Requirements

  • Strong supervisory experience in an industrial or production setting.
  • Relationship building experience.
  • Basic mechanical and electrical aptitude in an electrical/machine environment.
  • Ability to troubleshoot and problem solve with urgency.
  • Business PC skills.
  • Experience with melt shop/melt factory operations is preferred.
  • Regular exposure to work near moving mechanical parts.
  • Potential exposure to wet or humid conditions.
  • Potential exposure to outdoor weather conditions.
  • Regular exposure to high noise environments.
  • Exposure to a graphite rich/dusty environment.
  • Exposure to mobile traffic and hot furnace environments.
  • Required to be hands-on with some electrical and mechanical day-to-day tasks.
