About the Role
Seasonal job opportunities are plentiful at TRCA, offering great opportunities and seasonal perks. The Custodian is responsible for providing comprehensive cleaning services and light maintenance for TRCA sites or facilities, supporting clean and safe operations for visitors and the public.
Responsibilities
- Supports the clean and safe operations of TRCA site or facility for visitors and the public.
- Carries out ongoing cleaning of the facility or site, including historical buildings, garbage collection, dusting and disinfecting high traffic areas, mopping, cleaning washrooms, clearing outdoor walkways, and responding to cleaning calls.
- Conducts seasonal deep cleaning of fixtures, flooring, windows, and walls as required.
- Conducts cleaning responsibilities following events or meetings at the site or facility, including possible set up and tear down of meeting rooms.
- Identifies and reports health and safety issues, following all related safety protocols.
- Maintains and completes accurate records, including inspection and maintenance records for cleaning and inventory of cleaning and paper products used.
- Closes areas/buildings when needed to ensure compliance with applicable security policies and procedures.
- Participates in daily safety meetings, including tailgate meetings, hazard identification, and emergency planning.
- Conducts a village check at the end of the day to ensure all buildings are secure.
- Meets with security at the end of the shift to inform them of any evening activities.
Requirements
- Ability to prioritize and take action on the needs of both internal and external customers.
- Ability to communicate effectively with tact and courtesy.
- Able to comprehend written documentation and procedural guidelines.
- Demonstrated ability to proactively identify problems in a timely manner, seeking the appropriate level of support to solve issues.
- Successful incumbent(s) may be required to undergo a vulnerable sector screening and/or driver’s abstract check.
