About the Role
Nottingham Trent International College is seeking an External Examiner for its Foundation Certificate (RQF 3 or SCQF 7) in Science and Engineering, commencing January 2027. The role involves ensuring academic standards and quality, assessing student work, and providing feedback on the program's effectiveness.
Responsibilities
- Participate in and endorse the outcomes of Assessment Boards.
- Ensure recommendations align with program aims, curriculum, and good higher education practice.
- Review the range of grades awarded and a sample of student work.
- Assess and comment on draft examination papers, assessments, and marking schemes.
- Provide feedback on good practice and innovation impacting the student learning experience.
- Submit an annual report for each program or module examined.
Requirements
- Knowledge of UK sector reference points for academic standards and quality assurance.
- Experience in teaching and learning in higher education.
- Relevant academic and/or professional qualifications.
- Experience in designing and operating various assessment tasks and procedures.
- Sufficient standing and breadth of experience to command respect from academic and professional peers.
- Fluency in English.
- Experience enhancing the student learning experience.
- Experience with the needs of international students is desirable.
- Specialist subject knowledge may be considered for candidates without prior External Examiner experience.
