About the Role
This role leads the creation of a unified platform to support Hupo's growing suite of AI sales enablement products. You will own the platform core, extract shared capabilities from existing products, and set the technical direction for a team of approximately seventeen engineers across India and Southeast Asia. This is a hands-on role where you will write code weekly, focusing on building shared services, client-specific configurations, and a system for assembling new use cases.
Responsibilities
- Build shared components for products, including configuration, identity and permissions, tenant isolation, model and retrieval access, and evaluation.
- Extract shared components from existing products without disrupting delivery, ensuring adoption by multiple teams.
- Make architectural and migration decisions across repositories, from design to production deployment.
- Set and enforce standards for ownership, review, testing, and security, assisting the team in meeting deadlines.
- Develop a safe mechanism for teams to vary behavior per client, eliminating the need for client-specific code forks or conditional statements.
- Collaborate with infrastructure engineers on deployment, CI/CD, and observability.
- Ensure all critical systems have a designated second owner.
Requirements
- 8+ years of experience building production backend systems.
- Demonstrated Staff-level experience, including cross-team architecture, leading end-to-end migrations, and driving adoption in non-reporting teams.
- Deep expertise in production TypeScript and Node.js.
- Proficiency in Python and ability to review code in languages other than your primary focus.
- Experience designing, testing, and operating multi-tenant SaaS systems with robust data isolation controls.
- Proven experience in decomposing monoliths or extracting shared services from live production systems, with the ability to articulate the process and outcomes.
- Infrastructure knowledge including Kubernetes, GCP or AWS, CI/CD, and observability.
- Strong security and data-handling instincts, preferably from a regulated industry.
- Excellent written communication skills for cross-timezone collaboration.
- Ability to push back on unsafe shortcuts under pressure while maintaining professional relationships.
