About the Role
This role is an exciting opportunity to use data, analytics and evidence to better understand need, improve services and support informed decision-making across the directorate. You will work with a range of stakeholders to explore complex questions, develop reproducible analysis and models, and communicate findings in a way that is accessible, practical and focused on improving outcomes for children, young people and families.
Responsibilities
- Lead data science projects that use complex internal and external datasets to generate insight and support better decision-making.
- Apply techniques such as predictive analytics, data modelling, machine learning and data visualisation to help solve complex service challenges.
- Develop models, identify trends and translate analysis into clear data stories for senior leaders and non-specialist audiences.
- Turn evidence into practical action to improve outcomes by working collaboratively across Children and Young People’s Services.
Requirements
- Experienced data professional with strong coding skills in Python or R.
- Ability to interrogate complex datasets, develop models and turn analysis into clear, compelling insights for decision-makers.
- Confident using data science techniques, visualisation tools such as Power BI, and objective analysis to solve complex problems.
- Curious, analytical and confident working with complex data to solve real-world problems.
- Comfortable using coding and data science techniques to explore patterns, build models and generate insight.
- Able to turn technical analysis into clear, practical messages for different audiences.
- Ability to work collaboratively, think creatively and use evidence to support better decisions for children, young people and families.
- Must complete the application fully and the supporting statement must cover how the person specification criteria are met.
