About the Role
Support, develop, and embed risk and control mechanisms for the business, independently overseeing and challenging the effective management of risks and controls. Support the design, implementation, and ongoing delivery of the risk framework and processes, working with stakeholders to drive compliance with key regulatory and policy requirements, and provide risk and control advice. Broaden regulatory knowledge and understanding in a strategic, proactive role that supports the management of the bank's risk profile.
Responsibilities
- Partner with business stakeholders in Product or Operations and other functional areas to design and implement innovative solutions that meet business needs while staying within stated risk appetite.
- Provide guidance and support in risk and control management, ensuring regulatory obligations and internal governance requirements are met.
- Ensure appropriate customer and conduct outcomes for POS Lending, Unsecured Personal Loans, or Savings products are delivered through processes and controls by collaborating with Operations, Product, and Technology teams.
- Support the design, implementation, and ongoing application of a risk-based controls framework, driving the evolution of processes and key risk indicators.
- Manage regulatory risk, including identifying, interpreting, and implementing regulatory requirements, and driving change or remediation activities.
- Provide risk partnering to support the resolution of ad-hoc events and incidents that expose the business to unanticipated risk.
- Partner with a product or functional team to support the development of compliant and controlled products, features, and services.
- Act as an interface with wider NatWest stakeholders, including senior risk colleagues, in the design and implementation of risk-driven priorities, policies, and processes.
- Develop and embed key Risk MI, maintain an up-to-date RAID log, and escalate issues as appropriate.
Requirements
- Ability to risk partner Product and/or Operational teams to launch new products and/or services to the market.
- Experience in a compliance, conduct, or risk management role or similar relevant experience.
- Knowledge of the regulatory environment and its frameworks.
- Experience of interpreting regulatory rules and regulations, such as BCOBs, Consumer Credit Act, Consumer Duty, used in the development of banking products and operations.
- Experience working in a fast-paced, agile environment.
- Experience working with product and functional business teams to deliver new capabilities.
- Proven strong ability to problem-solve with product and functional teams to deliver innovative compliant solutions.
- Ability to convey complex information and ideas clearly to stakeholders and embed product policy, processes, and controls that balance regulatory compliance and commerciality.
- Confidence to influence and challenge senior risk stakeholders in the interpretation and implementation of internal policy and regulatory requirements.
- Experience of working in a customer experience and/or customer design-led thinking environment.
- Evidence of supporting the development of Lending and/or Savings products with external understanding of regulation applicable to either or both.
