About the Role
Mercor is seeking an individual to own the infrastructure that every data-driven team runs on, including Snowflake, Fivetran, Airflow, and Hex. This role involves managing data organization, access control, cost, and operational reliability. As a foundational hire on the new Data Platform team, you will help establish engineering standards.
Responsibilities
- Bring structure and clear ownership to data organization in Snowflake across projects and teams.
- Design role-based access controls and partner with automation for access management.
- Extend row access policies and PII masking across sensitive datasets.
- Migrate data from various sources into governed homes.
- Own Fivetran connector health and cost, Airflow/Astronomer pipeline reliability and on-call, and Hex governance.
- Monitor and right-size Snowflake warehouse spend.
- Help build CDC/streaming ingestion and other internal data platform tooling.
Requirements
- Hands-on experience with Snowflake administration, including roles, grants, warehouses, and cost/performance tuning.
- Experience designing data access and governance models (RBAC, row-level security, PII) at scale.
- Comfort owning vendor tooling end-to-end (Fivetran, Airflow/Astronomer, or similar), including on-call.
- Track record of migrating or re-architecting live production data systems without impacting dependent teams.
- Strong SQL and Python skills with infrastructure fluency.
- Experience owning CDC/streaming pipelines in production (Debezium, Kafka, Snowpipe Streaming or similar), including delivery semantics, partitioning, and safe cutovers.
