About the Role
Lutron is seeking a Mechanical Designer to join their Engineering team in Austin, TX. This role involves contributing to the design, development, and support of innovative products, with a focus on bringing new product designs from concept to reality and supporting existing products.
Responsibilities
- Model custom mechanical parts, assemblies, and tools in Creo.
- Perform hands-on tasks such as prototype building and validation testing.
- Prototype and implement design tweaks to improve design quality and facilitate easier assembly.
- Source prototype components using 3D printers, in-house machine shop, or nearby vendors.
- Support documentation and part specification for existing and new products.
- Perform part verification and documentation of assembly tolerance stack analysis.
- Manage multiple projects and priorities in parallel.
- Collaborate with Engineering, Manufacturing, and Quality teams to gain consensus on part changes.
Requirements
- Minimum cumulative 3.00 GPA required.
- Minimum 2 years of work experience that includes product design/development required.
- Proficiency in Pro/E - Creo required.
- Familiarity with project management processes and meeting customer order commitments preferred.
- Familiarity and hands-on experience with various part manufacturing processes, such as injection molding, sheet metal stamping, and aluminum and plastic extrusions preferred.
- Travel between local facilities required.
- Authorized to work in the U.S. without requiring visa sponsorship.
