This full-time Ward Clerk position in the Day Surgery Centre provides essential administrative support to the healthcare team in a busy nursing admissions area. The role serves as a key point of contact for patients, staff, and stakeholders, requiring strong communication, customer service, and organizational skills to ensure a smooth and efficient patient admission process.
Responsibilities
- Provide administrative support to the healthcare team in a busy nursing admissions area.
- Serve as a key point of contact for patients, staff, and other stakeholders.
- Manage patient records accurately.
- Ensure a smooth and efficient admission process for patients.
- Manage competing priorities in a fast-paced environment.
- Work independently and as part of a team.
- Perform patient admission and discharge duties.
- Handle theatre bookings.

Requirements
- Completion of a medical terminology course (desirable)
- Previous experience working in a hospital or medical environment (desirable)
- Outstanding customer service skills
- Experience working with Word, Excel, and Outlook
- Demonstrated professional manner and role model behaviors in alignment with hospital values
- Ability to work in a busy, fast-paced environment safely and report hazards or incidents
- Willingness to handle sensitive situations with compassion and patience
- Strong willingness to work as part of a team
- Must be an Australian or New Zealand citizen or have an Australian visa that grants necessary work rights.
