About the Role
At JCPenney Salon, leaders guide their teams to success by developing stylists and delivering an exceptional client experience. As a salon manager, you will coach and motivate your team to become top salon professionals while supporting the business to drive retail and service results through creative marketing, networking, and promoting client loyalty. The salon business is a key driver of traffic and revenue for JCPenney.
Responsibilities
- Leads by example in all client interactions and supports stylists to ensure they can provide an exceptional client experience.
- Creates an environment that inspires associates to build client loyalty by providing coaching and feedback.
- Motivates and engages the team to provide exceptional service through consistent communication, coaching, and recognition.
- Proactively recruits qualified stylists using Social Media, targeted Recruiting Websites, Referrals, and by engaging Stylists at local Salons and Cosmetology Schools.
- Provides coaching and feedback that is frequent, balanced, meaningful, and improves effectiveness.
- Creates opportunities for learning that drive associate success throughout their career.
- Ensures stylists complete available training by scheduling Associates for Core and Artistic Education.
- Inspires loyalty, passion, and growth in the salon by creating an inclusive, respectful, professional, and fun environment.
- Reviews reports to identify and prioritize areas of opportunity, determine root cause, and set direction to achieve productivity, referral, rebooking, return rate, and client acquisition standards.
- Delivers Salary Cost objectives to achieve profit plan.
- Reviews SET guidance and makes appropriate adjustments based on salon layout while maintaining core standards.
- Actively walks the salon and backbar to identify merchandising, replenishment, and recovery opportunities.
- Handles or directs the salon team to address product-related issues that have the biggest impact on the client.
- Manages backbar expenses to plan.
- Consistently meets established performance standards for the role, including product and service sales, client experience, productivity, and attendance.
- Reviews and follows all company programs, including hiring practices and state safety regulations, and advises salon associates on how to address related issues.
Requirements
- If required per state law, exempt managers must maintain a current cosmetology license.
- Prioritizes customers and focuses team efforts on superior customer service and a quality salon client experience, with the goal of rebooking.
- Takes accountability for team performance and empowers individuals.
- Actively manages and understands salon operations and leads by example.
- Equips the team with the tools and skills needed for success.
- Celebrates associate wins and encourages pride in work accomplishments.
- Establishes goals and explains how success will be measured.
- Prioritizes work and remains adaptable to change.
- Motivates the team to stay focused on driving team and company results to reach quarterly and annual goals.
