About the Role
KPMG is seeking a Tax Intern to join their Tax practice. This role offers the opportunity to become an integral part of a dynamic team at a top tax firm, working in a collaborative, future-forward culture. You will gain experience through multifaceted engagements, formal training, and informal mentoring, while developing capabilities in key technologies.
Responsibilities
- Perform tax-related tasks, including compliance, advising, and planning for a variety of clients in different industries, multistate and/or multinational enterprises.
- Participate in data analytics assignments using KPMG technology, creating tax return work papers and returns, and coordinating offshore resources.
- Perform tax due diligence to identify tax exposures and opportunities.
- Assist multi-state companies with state and local tax issues including compliance, advising, planning, and controversies.
- Advise multinational enterprises on business decisions (location, entity choice, supply chain optimization, capital mobilization) and tax planning decisions (anticipating short- and long-term considerations, multinational tax risk profile, global effective tax rate, and cash posture).
- Work as part of a multi-disciplinary team on assignments and sustain excellent client relationships.
- Build capabilities in key technologies that enable tax professionals for client service delivery such as artificial intelligence (AI), Alteryx, Power BI, and more.
Requirements
- Must be enrolled in an accredited college or university and pursuing a Bachelors and/or Masters in business, accounting, finance, taxation, mathematics, economics, information technology, data and analytics, engineering (financial, industrial or systems), or equivalent program.
- Pursuing educational requirements for CPA licensure in the principal place of business.
- Completion of at least one college-level accounting course is required at the time of application.
- Strong technical, business acumen, critical thinking, and agility skills.
- Demonstrated ability to excel and drive strategic outcomes, coupled with a professional demeanor and a collaborative leadership approach.
- Demonstrated quality service mindset, strong technical aptitude, ability to learn and navigate technologies such as artificial intelligence (AI), Alteryx and Power BI, MS Office Applications including Excel, PowerPoint, Word and Outlook and apply emerging technologies to enhance tax processes and insights.
- Excellent communication, time management, and leadership skills, feedback oriented, and resourceful in delivering high quality work.
- Must reside within a reasonably commutable distance to the office.
- Must be able to travel to reasonably commutable work locations using own means of transportation.
- Ability to travel and/or work on-site at client premises as needed.
- Must be authorized to work in the U.S. without the need for employment-based visa sponsorship now or in the future.
