About the Role

KPMG is seeking a Tax Intern to join their International Tax practice. This role offers the opportunity to become an integral part of a dynamic team at a leading tax firm, working within a collaborative, future-forward culture. You will collaborate with specialists and utilize KPMG's Ignition Centers, which merge industry knowledge with cutting-edge technologies to create innovative tax solutions. Responsibilities

  • Advise multinational enterprises on tax matters related to cross-border transactions and business decisions.
  • Provide tax structuring advice to clients engaging in mergers, acquisitions, joint ventures, dispositions, and initial public offerings.
  • Advise clients on the impact of tax law changes and recommend strategies to address risks or opportunities.
  • Prepare international tax elements for financial statements and U.S. federal income tax returns.
  • Assist audit teams with financial statement audits, considering tax implications of global operations.
  • Prepare deliverables such as tax calculations, slide decks, memorandums, and emails.
  • Build capabilities in key technologies like AI, Alteryx, and Power BI for client service delivery.

Requirements

  • Must be enrolled in an accredited college or university pursuing a JD and/or LLM in Taxation, or equivalent program.
  • Must have additional academic credits to complete before obtaining their degree and/or CPA eligibility requirements upon internship completion.
  • Preferred GPA of 3.0 or above.
  • Preferred undergraduate degree and/or areas of study include business, accounting, finance, taxation, mathematics, economics, information technology, computer science, data and analytics, engineering (financial, industrial or systems), or equivalent.
  • Coursework or minor in information systems, software engineering, computer science or data and analytics is preferred.
  • Interest and exposure to a broad range of U.S. international and domestic tax law provisions.
  • Strong technical, business acumen, critical thinking, and agility skills.
  • Demonstrated ability to excel and drive strategic outcomes with a professional demeanor and collaborative leadership approach.
  • Demonstrated quality service mindset, strong technical aptitude, and ability to learn and navigate technologies such as AI, Alteryx, Power BI, and MS Office Applications.
  • Excellent communication, time management, and leadership skills.
  • Must reside within a reasonably commutable distance to the office.
  • Must be able to travel to reasonably commutable work locations.
  • Ability to travel and/or work on-site at client premises as needed.
  • Must be authorized to work in the U.S. without the need for employment-based visa sponsorship now or in the future.
