About the Role
The Technical Specification Engineer will be responsible for developing, writing, and maintaining accurate specifications for Peterbilt trucks for customers, working alongside the Sales Manager and Territory Managers. This role is critical in supporting the sales team, service department, and customers by providing clear technical guidelines for truck orders in various applications.
Responsibilities
- Provide support to the sales and service teams by clarifying technical specifications and troubleshooting documentation-related inquiries.
- Support the sales team by accompanying them on customer visits to investigate customer needs, requirements, and preferences.
- Ensure consistency in terminology and formatting across all specification documentation.
- Work with preferred Body Builders to optimize functional specifications in each industry.
- Regularly update specifications in line with product changes, new models, industry regulations, and corporate spec change orders from Peterbilt.
- Assist in training the sales staff on the use and comprehension of technical documents.
- Review and edit existing specifications to ensure accuracy, clarity, and completeness.
- Assemble clear and concise Peterbilt specifications including user manuals and preventive service guides.
- Create charts, diagrams, and other visual aids to enhance training and understanding of technical specifications.
- Collaborate with Peterbilt Engineers, district Sales Managers, and the sales team to gather accurate information about heavy truck specifications and features.

Requirements
- Proven experience in technical spec writing, preferably within Government regulators the automotive or heavy truck industry
- Strong understanding of heavy truck systems, specifications, and mechanical principles.
- Proficient in writing clear and concise documentation
- Ability to translate complex technical information into understandable language for a diverse audience.
- Excellent attention to detail, strong organizational skills, and the ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously.
- Proficient with documentation tools and software (e.g., Microsoft Office, Adobe Creative Suite, technical writing tools).
- Strong communication skills, both verbal and written, with the ability to work collaboratively in a team environment.
