About the Role

Develop complex transactions from tax, accounting, regulatory capital, and financial perspectives. Serve as the technical expert for transactions through governance and implementation, leading discussions with external advisors and stakeholders. Responsibilities

  • Identify new, strategic opportunities for the organization that contribute to profit after tax and capital.
  • Conceive complex transactions and solutions to capture potential tax and capital benefits.
  • Manage all aspects of transaction implementation, including robust controls.
  • Engage with counterparties, external counsel (corporate and tax law), and external accountancy firms.
  • Develop and maintain deal models detailing financial instruments, cash flows, accounting, tax, and economic benefits.
  • Engage with senior stakeholders and navigate governance processes (tax, transaction, board, Exco, business, and product approvals).
  • Develop, review, and execute transaction documentation with external counsel.
  • Contribute to or set strategy, drive requirements, and recommend changes.
  • Plan resources, budgets, and policies; manage and maintain policies/processes; deliver continuous improvements.
  • Manage and mitigate risks through assessment.
  • Demonstrate leadership and accountability for managing risk and strengthening controls.
  • Demonstrate comprehensive understanding of organizational functions to achieve business goals.
  • Collaborate with other areas for business-aligned support and to stay updated on business activity and strategies.
  • Create solutions based on sophisticated analytical thought, comparing and selecting complex alternatives.
  • Adopt and include outcomes of extensive research in problem-solving processes.
  • Build and maintain trusting relationships and partnerships with internal and external stakeholders using influencing and negotiating skills.

Requirements

  • A JD degree
  • Substantive working experience in a US tax-technical capacity in a top-tier law firm, investment bank, or similar organization
  • Demonstrated written and verbal communication skills
  • Comfort with Excel
  • A holistic, creative approach to problem-solving grounded in a rigorous understanding of technical rules, facts, and uncertainties
  • A team-oriented, self-starting, and mature mindset with a willingness to grow
  • Undergraduate degree in a quantitative discipline (e.g., Economics, Finance, Engineering, or Math) or prior quantitative work experience
  • LLM in Tax or advanced coursework
  • Accounting proficiency (as demonstrated by CPA/CFA or accounting coursework/experience)
  • Risk and controls, change and transformation, business acumen, strategic thinking, and digital and technology skills
