About the Role
This Safety internship offers a hands-on, real-world learning experience focused on ensuring the safety of construction projects across North America. You will learn essential skills, programs, regulations, and guidelines to support the mission of ensuring people return home safely. The internship provides an opportunity to develop, participate in, and learn key roles within construction management while supporting field teams.
Responsibilities
- Implement and oversee the Project Safety Program, including developing site safety policies and procedures.
- Monitor construction project activities to ensure compliance with government regulations, client policies, and company procedures.
- Establish and monitor safe working conditions for employees.
- Provide corrective action recommendations and assist in implementing performance tracking and reporting metrics.
- Review project work plans for accuracy and conformance with standards.
- Assist in safety program audits, coaching, and regular onsite training.
- Carry out duties in varying work environments, including diverse weather conditions and terrain.
- Travel and relocate as required for projects.
Requirements
- Must be pursuing a degree in Occupational Health and Safety, Environmental Safety, or a related field.
- Knowledge of construction safety and current Federal and OSHA requirements.
- Working knowledge of computers and experience with Microsoft Word and Excel.
- Strong organizational and time management skills.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills.
- Good attention to detail with the ability to recognize discrepancies.
- Strong work ethic.
- Ability to work with all levels of the organization.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
- Ability to freely access all points of a construction site in varying climates and environments.
- Ability to travel and relocate as required.
