About the Role
As a Performance Engineer at IMC, you will analyze, optimize, and tune systems' interaction with exchange systems. You will uncover performance improvements across the trading stack by combining technical ingenuity with creative problem-solving in a demanding technical landscape.
Responsibilities
- Analyze and understand complex, live systems using black-box techniques without source code access.
- Design and run statistical experiments against real data to explain phenomena and identify performance bottlenecks.
- Design, implement, and build working prototypes to test ideas and technologies.
- Liaise with traders, software and hardware engineers, and infrastructure teams to share insights and implement solutions.
- Analyze terabytes of network data using statistical methods to identify patterns, validate hypotheses, and quantify performance improvements.
Requirements
- Comfortable using statistics and data analysis to test hypotheses at scale.
- Experience in system-level optimization or low-level network optimization applied to live/external systems.
- Strong understanding of networking, computer internals, and Linux systems.
- Proven commercial experience writing and shipping production code in Python and/or C++ or Java.
