About the Role
As a Group Director, Client Partnership at DEPT®, you will lead enterprise/global multi-service portfolios, acting as the primary representative to senior-most clients. You will drive innovation and strategy by deeply understanding client businesses and fostering strong relationships. This role optimizes operational efficiency, designs integrated solutions, and develops future-state strategies with clear KPIs. You will also focus on developing future leaders and enhancing integrated marketing expertise across the team, contributing to agency thought leadership and introducing innovative approaches.
Responsibilities
- Ensuring client satisfaction through regular communication with senior decision-makers, leading to high client retention and growth.
- Serving as a point of escalation for accounts and effectively resolving internal and client issues.
- Proactively seeking in-person relationship-building opportunities to strengthen client connections.
- Identifying and supporting talent, developing future leaders, and ensuring high-performing team dynamics.
- Designing integrated solutions across practices and innovative approaches across accounts.
- Developing future-state strategies with KPIs, demonstrating a deep understanding of clients' businesses and recommending appropriate solutions.
- Fostering a culture of innovation to produce exceptional client work.
- Proactively pursuing cross-sell and upsell opportunities to drive innovation, strategy, and organic revenue growth.
- Elevating work and helping clients achieve business goals by advancing integrated marketing expertise.
- Collaborating cross-functionally with Media, Creative, Experience, and Engineering teams to solve client business challenges.
- Crafting QBR outlines and owning the overall narrative, collecting inputs from team members, and organizing pre-read materials.
- Managing client portfolio revenue, including accurate and timely updates to internal financial systems.
- Forecasting, reconciling, and monitoring client revenue and profitability in partnership with Client Finance and Delivery.
- Productizing services, scoping projects, and structuring commercial models within budget and on brief.
- Effectively and rapidly negotiating SOW adjustments and expansions with clients.
- Leading contract negotiations and overseeing the implementation of commercial agreements.
- Mentoring talent to upskill and build high-performing teams.
- Leading, line-managing, motivating, and inspiring a team.
- Ensuring teams operate effectively and efficiently towards client goals while meeting financial revenue targets.
- Working effectively with all craft teams to drive strategies and work that advances clients' businesses.
- Ensuring teams identify core issues, proactively develop mitigation plans, and handle challenges effectively.
- Handling difficult conversations with clients and employees, rallying teams to overcome challenges, and delivering high client satisfaction.
- Escalating interpersonal issues to the People team and collaborating on solutions when necessary.
- Ensuring the delivery of work to the highest possible standard.
- Understanding and managing scope, including tracking, managing, and escalating account, staffing, and profitability issues.
- Consistently assessing team/client fit to ensure optimal talent matching based on expertise and working styles.
- Determining resolutions for cross-channel issues, including performance, tracking, and QA.
- Leading new business pitches and proposals, owning strategic narratives, pricing, and team structure.
- Leveraging strong understanding of DEPT's global service offerings to participate in conversations for complex projects and new offerings.
- Contributing to agency POVs and participating in thought leadership initiatives.
- Delivering case-study worthy work and drafting case studies for Growth initiatives.
Requirements
- Experience managing teams (directly and indirectly), complex campaigns, and high-volume retainers for brands.
- Calm and controlled demeanor in high-pressure situations.
- Experience delivering commercial success in an agency model.
- Ability to generate big ideas framed in solid strategy grounded in insight.

- 12+ years of experience in roles servicing clients in an agency environment.
- Owns $5-7M+ client portfolio and runs it like an independent business unit.
- Owns and exceeds multi-account growth targets.
- Experience leading pitches and driving organic account growth.
- Experience managing large integrated clients, AORs, and agency teams.
- Executive presence: demonstrates self-awareness, strategic thought leadership, excellent communication skills, and the ability to anticipate client needs and opportunities.
- Experience in leading high-volume, multi-service client engagements.
- Experience inspiring team members and fostering a proactive, collaborative, and energized team culture.
