About the Role
Domera Labs is building Ami, an AI companion for seniors, which combines intuitive hardware design with frontier AI to make technology accessible and combat loneliness. This role involves owning the intelligence core of the product, from model training and deployment to refining the speech pipeline and building the agent harness.
Responsibilities
- Train, fine-tune, and evaluate models for conversational behavior.
- Deploy models to production, ensuring speed, reliability, and affordability at scale.
- Refine the full speech pipeline, including STT, LLM orchestration, and TTS for natural, low-latency conversation.
- Build out the agent harness for reliable scheduled actions, proactive behavior, and guardrails.
Requirements
- Proven experience taking ML systems from experiment to production.
- Hands-on work with LLMs and/or speech models (ASR/TTS); fine-tuning experience is a strong plus.
- Comfort with real-time constraints, including streaming inference, latency budgets, and graceful behavior on poor networks.
- Python, deep learning frameworks, or distributed computing are non-negotiable.
- Ability to stay focused when multiple priorities compete and the ranking is unclear.
- Ability to work seamlessly across research and engineering.
- Ability to navigate ambiguity and make progress in fast-moving research environments.
