About the Role

Domera Labs is building Ami, an AI companion for seniors, aiming to make technology more accessible and combat loneliness. This role involves owning the device from silicon to cloud, ensuring a seamless user experience for seniors without screens or IT support.

Responsibilities

Own the device: everything between the silicon and the cloud, ensuring it 'just works' for users.
Manage device identity and fleet: provisioning, unique device identity, secure key storage, and monitoring device status.
Develop the maintenance channel: create a reliable service and diagnostics path (BLE, USB-C) for field debugging, factory testing, and recovery.
Ensure a seamless out-of-the-box experience: develop first-boot network onboarding suitable for seniors without screens or smartphones.
Manage flash and update processes: handle partition layout, A/B OTA with rollback, staged fleet rollouts, and prevent device bricking.
Implement base platform behaviors: manage boot and recovery, factory and soft resets, button/LED mappings, audio feedback, and power states.
Develop the audio front end: collaborate with partners on mic array, echo cancellation, wake word, and latency.
Guide the device through EVT, DVT, and PVT phases with ODM partners.

Requirements

Shipped a connected consumer device to production.
Strong C/C++ and Linux-based embedded platforms (Yocto, Buildroot, or similar).
Comfort in Python for tooling and test.
Experience with wireless connectivity: Wi-Fi provisioning, BLE, and ideally cellular.
Experience debugging connectivity issues in real-world environments.
Proficiency in OTA and flash processes: bootloaders, secure boot, A/B partitioning, rollback, and staged rollouts.
Ability to debug using hardware tools like oscilloscopes and logic analyzers.
A builder's mindset: prioritize shipping and measuring over debate.
Experience working directly with frontier AI systems.
Python, deep learning frameworks, or distributed computing are non-negotiable.
