About the Role
ARI is seeking a Communications Manager for Frontier AI Safety to drive public understanding and policy momentum on urgent AI governance questions. This role translates complex ideas into compelling narratives for lawmakers, journalists, and the public, and strengthens the communications infrastructure of other AI safety organizations.
Responsibilities
- Manage proactive and reactive media communications for frontier AI risks.
- Design strategic media campaigns in support of policy objectives.
- Draft, edit, and pitch media statements and exclusives.
- Monitor the media and policy landscape for engagement opportunities.
- Develop shared communications templates, rapid-response toolkits, and narrative frameworks for the AI safety community.
- Help partners develop rapid-response plans.
- Publish timely online commentary to shape public debate.
- Sustain coverage and content to build momentum and focus policymaker attention.
Requirements
- 4–5+ years of experience in policy communications, public affairs, or policy advocacy.
- Strong writing ability to translate complex policy issues into clear language.
- Experience working on technology and AI policy.
- Proven ability to engage with media and contribute to successful communications campaigns.
- Sound judgment and comfort operating in fast-moving, high-stakes policy environments.
- Previous professional engagement on artificial intelligence and its societal impacts.
- Established digital presence and track record of engaging audiences online (preferred).
- On-the-record media experience (preferred).
