About the Role
The Account Payable Clerk compiles and maintains verified accounts payable records, reconciles statements, and issues payments to vendors.
Responsibilities
- Checks all vouchers and obtains appropriate payment approval.
- Posts all open items in accounts payable daily.
- Prepares accounts payable checks.
- Prints all accounts payable reports and maintains all accounts payable files.
- Reconciles statement and the ledger ensuring that payments are consistent with dealership schedules.
- Reconciles liability schedule.
- Communicates cash requirements for payable dates to the Accounting Manager.
- Audits freight bills against freight inquiries.
- Analyzes vendor accounts.
- Answers all vendor inquiries.
- Assists in monthly closings.
- Prepares analysis of accounts, as required.
- Assists with accounts receivable and special projects, as necessary to maintain team efficacy.
- Creates reporting structures to maximize visualization of data.
- Works within prescribed deadlines with accuracy.
- Cross-trains others for this position as directed by management.
Requirements
- High School Diploma or General Educational Diploma (GED)
- Previous AP/AR experience preferred.
- Ability to manage multiple priorities effectively and multitask.
- Strong organizational skills and high detail orientation.
- Excellent verbal, written, and electronic communication skills.
- Ability to interact well with customers and coworkers, be a team player, and maintain a professional demeanor.
- Analytical skills with the independent ability to research and initiative to conduct same.
- Ability to sit, stand, walk, talk, hear, use hands to finger, grasp, handle or feel, push, pull, reach, crouch, bend, kneel, climb, and perform repetitive motions of the hands and/or wrists.
- Mental and visual attention required to perform work dealing primarily with preparing and analyzing data and figures, using a computer terminal, and reading.
- Exerts up to 20 pounds of force occasionally, and/or up to 10 pounds of force frequently to lift, carry, push, pull, or otherwise move objects.
- Light exertion can involve sitting, walking and/or standing most of the time.
- Occasional weekend and evening hours are required.
