About the Role
The Buyer is an analytical fashion curator who propels Andrews’ vision forward with clear and effective task prioritisation and allocation for themselves and across the Buying Team.
Responsibilities
- Co-own the design and execution of the seasonal strategy with the Merchant.
- Conduct trend research and competitive benchmarking.
- Research new brands, categories, and products based on client needs.
- Perform seasonal performance reviews of vendors, categories, and sub-categories.
- Manage budgets and Open to Buy effectively, balancing commerciality and creativity.
- Develop Block Plans considering vendors, categories, sales data, and forecasts.
- Identify and implement improvements for legacy and digital buying processes.
- Communicate changes clearly to relevant stakeholders.
- Review previous year's performance against budget to set merchandising direction.
- Establish a merchandise mix within budget.
- Analyze data to assess business performance and drive trading activity.
- Provide product performance reporting and communicate risks/opportunities.
- Ensure a balanced Assortment Plan with Essentials, Seasonal Trends, and fashion elements.
- Refine the Vendor Matrix and recommend vendor onboarding/offboarding.
- Build and maintain vendor relationships, discussing performance and handling negotiations.
- Collaborate to ensure a consistent brand voice across the product assortment.
- Ensure optimal representation of the assortment digitally and in-store.
- Communicate key product and brand knowledge effectively.
- Stay abreast of customer engagement and feedback.
Requirements
- 10 years’ experience in Buying, Assortment Strategy and Planning, physical and digital merchandising.
- Experience covering planning through to execution.
- Experience in Retail Math, Financial Planning and Budget Management (e.g., Budget, Open to Buy budget).
- Experience in Strategy Development and Planning.
- Experience in Vendor Management.
- Experience in Analysis (e.g., trend forecasting, product research, brand matrix, consumer behaviour, competitive benchmarking).
- Experience in Inventory management (e.g., replenishment, stock level management).
- Experience in Brand and product launch management.
