About the Role
The Baselga Cancer Research Scholars Program is a 2-year immersive education and research program for early-career Oncologists. Scholars will join an accelerated development track within Oncology R&D, receiving individualized mentorship and learning from experts across the drug development continuum. The program aims to develop future leaders in Oncology R&D, contributing to life-changing medicines for patients.
Responsibilities
- Serve as medical director with primary responsibility for patient safety and conduct of assigned trials, data interpretation, and safety surveillance.
- Establish and approve scientific methods for the design and implementation of clinical protocols, data collection systems, and final reports.
- Assist in the design of clinical development plans and overall strategy for compounds, therapeutic classes, or indications.
- Collaborate with pre-clinical and translational sciences, and senior management in assessing requirements for emerging products.
- Participate in the selection and management activities of CROs.
- Supervise project team members in planning, conducting, and evaluating clinical trials.
- Plan and manage investigator meetings, advisory boards, and other scientific committees.
- Participate in weekly clinical and scientific meetings related to clinical studies.
- Complete AstraZeneca training programs.
- Participate in internal and external scientific meetings.
- Work in a cross-functional environment, contributing to and supporting Department/Clinical initiatives.
- Engage in 3-6 month rotations across various groups such as Patient Safety, Clinical Operations, Regulatory Affairs, Biostatistics, Medical Affairs, and Translational or Precision Medicine.
- Lead an innovative research project for the duration of the 2-year program.
- Harness internal datasets and expertise to deliver a research project.
- Present research project findings to key internal stakeholders.
- Present research project findings at a key scientific meeting.
- Publish research project findings in a peer-reviewed journal.
Requirements
- MD or equivalent required.
- Board certified (or eligible) in Oncology or Haematology/Oncology preferred.
- 0-5 years of experience in molecular oncology and/or translational science.
- Experience in molecular oncology and/or translational science.
- Medical specialty and sub-specialty training and Board Certification.
- Excellent oral and written skills.
