About the Role
Responsible for supervising a team of mechanics to efficiently manage the repair and maintenance of equipment, utilizing available assets effectively and in a timely manner while minimizing unproductive time.
Responsibilities
- Communicates and supports the Kirby Smith vision and core values.
- Accepts repair requests for equipment within the scope of responsibility.
- Researches repair scope and prepares customer quotes.
- Opens work orders, assigns technicians, and processes WIP.
- Determines warrantable repairs versus customer-billed repairs.
- Monitors repair progress and communicates status updates to customers.
- Monitors work in process to achieve labor goals.
- Tracks and schedules factory campaigns, ensuring timely completion.
- Monitors and tracks parts returns.
- Completes all department-related paperwork promptly.
- Oversees employee safety practices and encourages safety training.
- Manages employee performance appraisals.
- Maintains open communication with the Service Manager on work and employee matters.
- Performs other job-related duties as assigned.
- Ensures consistent and reliable on-site attendance.
Requirements
- High School Education or Equivalent.
- Five (5) years combined experience as a technician in a related field and supervisory experience.
- Proficient with Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook) and various web-based applications.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
- Excellent organizational skills for managing high-volume department paperwork.
- Experience or training in management concepts and practices, or willingness to obtain and apply such training.
- Ability to push/pull/lift/carry up to 50 pounds without assistance.
- Physical ability to squat, twist, turn, bend, stoop, climb, and reach overhead.
- Ability to work in extreme heat or cold and/or wet, damp, dusty, or windy conditions.
- Ability to tolerate exposure to typical shop noises, hazardous materials, and fumes/odors.
- Physical ability to perform for extended hours.
- Ability to adhere to personal protective equipment (PPE) policy and maintain individual PPE.
